Sue Phillipson moved to Montana from Hawaii in 1980, now living in Kalispell, Montana since 1995. Sue's oil paintings are inspired by Glacier National Park. Endangered and protected animals, birds and wildflowers are her main focus. Living in Hawaii, Sue studied with world renowned wildlife artist Gary R. Swanson. Sue's realistic renditions of flowers, landscapes and animals gained immediate attention by clients and collectors. Phillipson concentrates on the relationship of light and shadow. She uses contrast to create a dimension in her paintings carefully controlling color value. Light is the common theme of her work. She looks at her subject as light on form and what happens when they meet. Painting with a flame and oil on copper is her latest passion.
